Whether you prefer an LED TV or a plasma TV, neither is a bad choice. They both feature a quality picture and have some excellent features. The way they are put together has a few differences that could help you select the best choice for you, however. Compared to all other high definition TVs, an LED TV is the most energy efficient. LED TV's can save the consumer up to 40 percent percent on their energy consumption versus plasma and LCD models. LED's are basically a combination of LCD panels. The TV's only differ in the way the LCD pixels are illuminated on your TV screen. Plasma TV's are one of the most popular choices among HDTV's being bought today. This is mostly due to the price, as LED TV's have more features than a plasma TV. They offer lower quality graphics and less details when viewing games and movies as their resolution is lower than an LED TV. The benefit of a plasma TV is that you can view the unit at an angle and still experience clear, quality colors. Here's a closer look at how they compare: Color Accuracy- At the moment, plasma TV's deliver a better quality picture and greater color shades. LED technology is not far behind, however, and may catch up very soon. Size and Cost- Plasma TV's are generally less expensive than LED TV's and both are available in about the same number of size options. Viewing Angle- The quality of the viewing angle is continually improving for LED TV's, but at the moment plasma TV's offer a better view from all angles. Screen Burn In- LED's are manufactured in a way that screen burn in is not a problem. The "twisting crystal" technology of the LED TV prevents any screen burn in from happening. While the technology of the plasma is catching up, they still have not come up with anything close to what the LED has to offer. Brightness- Plasma TV's are making strides in their brightness quality, but LED TV's are far ahead of the game in this feature right now. Longevity- Both plasma TV's and LED TV's last for around the same amount of time. Optimal viewing on both will normally last upwards of 100,000 hours. Contrast Levels- At this point plasma TV's are ahead of the game, but LED TV's are catching up in the quality of the contrast levels. As you can see, it is hard to choose a winner here. Both TV's present features and qualities that make them different than the other, but not necessarily better. The preference of an LED TV or a plasma TV pretty much comes down to the choice of the individual and what qualities are most important to them.
